Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a workplace-centric initiative aimed at supporting employees in navigating personal challenges that might impact their job performance. At the heart of EAP is confidential counselling—a short-term, solution-focused service provided to individual employees. Not only do employees have access to trained counsellors for any psychological concerns, but in certain instances, their immediate family members can also avail of this benefit. Beyond reactive support, EAP emphasizes proactive and preventive strategies, equipping organisations with the understanding and tools to anticipate and address potential mental health issues stemming from both professional and personal scenarios. The ultimate goal of EAP is to uplift employee well-being and foster a positive organizational culture.
One of the primary barriers to using an EAP service is the uncertainty surrounding privacy and confidentiality. Carfi recognizes that confidentiality is paramount; as such, employees are informed about confidentiality both before and during the initial EAP counselling session. If a client wishes for their organisation to be aware of their counselling, they must sign a release of information form outlining the specifics and terms of any disclosure. Carfi is committed to upholding the confidentiality of clients undergoing counselling and their employer organisation, in addition to meeting its legal obligations. We are acutely aware of and committed to both the legal and ethical requirements regarding confidentiality.
No personally identifiable information is provided to our client organisations, including on invoices. Each month, your employer is invoiced for that month’s aggregated services, with no information provided about who accessed these services. On a quarterly basis, client organisations receive general statistical reports about the overall utilisation of the EAP service (for example, total number of sessions). These reports are aggregated and anonymised and do not contain any identifiable information.
